About Brian Lawler

I’m Brian Lawler, founder and principal consultant at Black Sparrow Business Consulting, where I help growing businesses hire smarter, faster and with confidence.

After two decades in leadership, recruitment and business development, I saw a recurring problem: great businesses were losing great people, not because of poor intent, but because their hiring systems weren’t built for long-term success. Black Sparrow was created to fix that.

Through our signature Hiring Sprints and Retained Search Programs, I work with SME owners to attract the right people, streamline their hiring process and strengthen retention through structured onboarding and clear 90-day plans. The goal is simple – to build teams that actually stick and perform.

Unlike traditional recruiters, I don’t “send CVs”; I solve hiring. I partner with leaders to design evidence-based hiring frameworks that align with culture, capability and commercial outcomes.

At the heart of it, I believe every business deserves a team that fuels growth rather than drains it, and that smart, strategic hiring is one of the most powerful levers for building sustainable success.
