

Dr Cara McDonald is a highly qualified Specialist Dermatologist and Cosmetic Injector, known for her expertise in medical, surgical and aesthetic dermatology. As Co-Director and Principal Dermatologist at Complete Skin Specialists, she is dedicated to delivering comprehensive, patient-centred care that integrates clinical precision with aesthetic artistry.
Originally from Tasmania, Dr McDonald graduated with First Class Honours in Medicine from the University of Tasmania before completing her specialist dermatology training through St Vincent’s and The Alfred Hospitals in Melbourne, as well as at Oxford in the United Kingdom. She is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists and a Consultant Dermatologist at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne.
Dr McDonald’s clinical interests include skin cancer prevention and management, acne scarring, laser dermatology, surgical dermatology and aesthetic medicine. Her extensive experience in cosmetic injectables, combined with her deep anatomical understanding and artistic eye, allows her to achieve natural, balanced results tailored to each patient. She also serves as a national trainer with the Allergan Medical Institute®, educating doctors and nurses across Australia and New Zealand.
With a lifelong passion for art and design, Dr McDonald views dermatology as a field where science and creativity intersect. Her approach emphasises education, trust and long-term relationships, helping patients improve their skin health while restoring confidence and self-esteem.
